ensaymada heaven

If you want to veer away from the typical ensaymada then BABY PAT BREADS AND PASTRIES is the way to go.  

A friend of mine posted a picture of the Nutella ensaymada on her Facebook account and I instantly got curious.  So I did some research and ordered myself a box.

Baby Pat's ensaymadas comes all the way from Sta. Rosa, Laguna so you either have to wait for them to have a delivery in either Makati or Quezon City or you could have themsend it via LBC it to you.  I opted to have it sent to me via LBC.  

They have a minimum order of 1 dozen and you can choose whatever flavor you want to put in there.  I got to speak to Pearl De Guzman, the owner of the business, and she recommended some stuff which I decided to try out.

In my box of 12, I got 3 Nutella, 3 Speculoos, 3 Ube con Quezo de Bola, 1 Tablea, 1 Quezo de Bola and 1 Latik.

I tried the Nutella first since Nutella is something I really love...

Then I tried the Ube con Quezo de Bola since Pearl informed me that it was one of her best sellers and she personally makes the Ube herself..

Then comes the Speculoos...

And then finally....  the Tablea...

The verdict???

It was actually good.  Its definitely something different.  Its a little bit pricey but since they use some expensive ingredients, like the Nutella and Speculoos, plus the ensaymada is quite big... then I think the price is okay.  A box of 12 is around Php1,500 plus Php300 for the LBC so I paid a total of Php1,800.  

The Ube con Quezo de Bola was the best for me.  The Ube just complimented the taste of the ensaymada.  The Nutella was a bit too rich for me even if Nutella is my favorite.  The Speculoos is okay.  I am not a big fan of Speculoos to begin with so this one didn't really excite me too much.  The Tablea was also good.  It was kind of bitter sweet so It wasn't too rich.

I would recommend this but I wish they had a store in Makati so we didn't have to order a dozen every single time.
